Basketball and Gymnasium Floors: Failures & Surface-Related Accidents
Ray E. Omholt is DSI’s lead expert in the field of Basketball and Gym Floor Failure Analysis and surface-related accidents. Mr. Omholt has been awarded 48 engineering patents related to the design of sport surfaces and courts worldwide (see CV). He is a nationally recognized expert in sports floor design, installation, maintenance and related concrete sub-floor construction issues.

Mr. Omholt is also a well-trained expert in the field of Slip-Trip-and-Fall injuries, both on sport floors and pedestrian surfaces. Mr. Omholt is a member of ASTM (American Society of Testing Materials) and is on its F-13 Footwear and Traction Code-Making Committee. He is also a member of BOCA (Building Officials and Code Administration), one of the most respected and largest Building Code organizations in the United States.

Dr. J. Nigel Ellis is a leading authority on high falls and fall protection standards and equipment. He serves as DSI’s Fall Protection Expert and frequently provides input for the U.S. Occupational Safety and Heath Administration (OSHA) standards. Dr. Ellis authored the definitive textbook, Introduction to Fall Protection, in addition to standard text used in the Certified Safety Professionals certification-training program.

Our staff is trained to develop theories of liability, to identify possible additional defendants and to provide professional support with technical discovery.
