Electrocutions & Electrical Hazards Team
Donald W. Zipse, P.E., IEEE, is a long-term Code-Making Member in the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), which governs safety standards for the transmission and distribution of Electric Power. Mr. Zipse is a Distinguished Lecturer and Life Fellow in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), an exceptional combination of honors. He has a lifetime of practical experience in electric power distribution and has consulted and provided expert witness testimony extensively on cases involving electrocutions and exposure to electrical hazards.
Robert C. Peters, P.E., IEEE, is also a long-term Code-Making Member in the National Electric Safety Code (NESC). Mr. Peters is a Senior Member of IEEE with 30 years experience as a Senior Design Engineer and manager in the transmission and distribution of electricity for utility companies. In addition to his reputation as an outstanding expert on the NESC he is a leading authority on utility poles, wooden poles and other structures supporting high voltage lines and electrical equipment. He is able to testify knowledgeably about the practices and procedures of utilities and has significant experience in providing expert witness testimony on electrocution cases.
Ray E. Omholt, President, directs DSIs work in Causation/Human Factors and liability analysis, identifying and developing liability issues, potential defendants, and degrees of negligence. He has been involved in liability and causation analysis of over 100 high-voltage cases involving electrocution and electrical hazards. Mr. Omholt has 48 patents to date (others pending) and developed DSIs Accu-Trak™ and Accu-File™ data-analysis toolsthe innovative and highly effective proprietary software used by Discovery Systems.
Roger M. Holcomb, Esq., CSP (Certified Safety Professional), directs DSIs work in Technical Discovery Support. In this role he works with technical experts and clients to produce suggested technical Interrogatories, Requests to Produce, and Deposition Questions for DSIs clients. Mr. Holcomb also directs Databased Evidence Analysis, and brings over 20 years of high level engineering, safety, computer databasing, and legal experience to his work at DSI.
Basketball Floor Failures & Accidents Team
Ray E. Omholt: As DSIs president, Mr. Omholt directs the companys work in Sport Surface failures, related Slips-Trips-and-Falls, and Engineering Human Factors. He has provided expert engineering analysis and testimony in numerous cases. Mr. Omholt was educated as a Civil Engineer and has been awarded 48 patents to date on a worldwide basis in the Sport Surfacing design field. Products based on these patents have been installed in schools and prominent universities across the United States and overseas. He has designed a number of the software applications used routinely and effectively by DSI in its work. Additionally, Mr. Omholt is a current member of ASTM (American Society Testing Materials) and is a member of ASTMs "F-13 Footwear and Traction Code Committee". He is also a member of BOCA (Building Officials and Code Administration), one of the largest and most respected Building Code organizations in the United States.

J. Nigel Ellis, Ph.D., P.E., CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CPE (Certified Professional Ergonomist), is the distinguished author of Introduction to Fall Protection, the text used by OSHA and in many professional seminars. Dr. Ellis has also authored numerous other books, articles, and book chapters. He is widely recognized as one of the worlds leading experts on fall protection and has earned numerous honors and awards. Dr. Ellis has provided expert witness testimony in many venues related to falls and fall protection, and his expertise in forensic matters related to high falls and fall protection is unparalleled.
